Up to the Nipples

Chest deep... I've heard it said before, but never believed it. In my mind chest deep snow was near impossible, especially living in the northwest. I'm not talking about an accumulative amount of snow somewhere near chest height, I'm talking about enough extremely light snow that in every turn you sink near shoulder level.

After the past week in Tahoe I am a believer. It hasn't stopped snowing since I've been here. By far the most snow I've seen in my entire life, anywhere from 1-3 feet a day. Squaw Valley has reported over 150 inches of fresh snow in the last 7 days. It's absolute madness and aside from the climbing avalanche danger that is keeping us out of some areas the madness of the weather has brought nothing but enjoyment.

Screen shot from some recent video (video cred Corey "Dirtbag" Schneider, his work here):

The sun did break for a little bit and I happened to be driving around the lake, it's an amazing area and I'm really excited for the next week.

A few images from the last week:

Great editing on the landscape photos. The lone tree I love. I have shot it several times myself.

I really like these photos and especially how the blue coloring is brought out in them. My favorite is the third one down from the top, I think the sky is especially beautiful. But I like them all. I don't have any critisism for you because I think these are all really great, and I love them all. I'm excited to see more of your work:) Good job!

I really like these photos. I love the variety and everything about the photos. One of my favorite ones is the tunnel one with the snowboarder and the ice-cicles. I love the color and the whole picture. I also like all of the larger photos. They are interesting to look at and I like everything about everyone of them. All of your photos are good and cool. There is not one that I do not like. I hope to shoot photos like these in the future and also see more.

I really like the use of light and fast shutter speeds to capture the waves along with the clouds. The blues really make the water pop out of the picture. The contrast really makes the photos realistic and fathomable. Big word isn't it Essex. Again, I really like your use of light to bring out detail on the subject. Bro-dart.

Great photos! The lone tree has to be my favorite. It has a very dramatic transition in the color of the clouds. The colors in the water are great as well. I like the change that occurs in the water. Another photo that I really like is the beach photo. The horizon is perfectly straight. The slight vignette on the left side of the photo helps focus the viewer towards the other side of the photo.

I love all of your photos and this post is one of the best! The color in the photos are amazing, especially the blues. Your use of contrast is great and so is your lighting. The tone of each photo is unique and I love your style. The shot of the fence is from a really different angle and the texture in it is really cool. You have a lot of talent as a photographer!

Excellent shots. Landscape are sometimes not easy to get and you are able to make it loom like its a pice of cake. Fast shutter gives some great detail in the waves. The editing is also done well> you added some personality to them, your own stile that it really makes them. Great job, really, your good.

i really like the winter photo's of the snowboarding. i like that the pictures are not so white. the white balance is good and it shows the picture of how it should be shown and not how they can be if they are edited. i like the one is specific that is the snowboarder in a canyon or what looks like it. the things that i truely love is that the iso and the aperature is set in a good place and so the pictures are clear and there really is no blur to it.
