Stomp Games Rail Jam

I was happy to have the opportunity to shoot Stomp Games this last weekend. It was a lot different because usually when I'm shooting snowboarding or skiing I'm the only photographer there, or maybe there is one other photog that I know. At Stomp Games there was at least 5 or 6, I definitely learned a lot because it was a way different shooting environment than I'm used to. Something super important I learned was if your going to shoot anywhere where you think it might be a problem at an event it is a very smart thing to ask someone important if its okay to shoot from that place. Most of the angles were crap so I asked if I could get up on the bank between the rails and they said it was okay. I made my way to the spot and a little later most of the other photogs came to the same spot. They got kicked out of the spot but I was able to stay because I asked, and then I was able to get some pretty good shots. Anyways, the point of the story is that its a good thing to ask at events where you can shoot from.
I'm not usually happy with competition shots because they are all kind of the same. These were okay, there different than the usual. As the night progressed I had to shoot differently so here's the different shots.
This first sequence was ambient light earlier in the afternoon:
This shot was once the sun went down, flash on low power on camera(I need to figure out what temperature my flashes shoot at, colors are off on this one):
High power on camera flash(I'm not a big fan of high power flash on camera but it's what I needed to do because I was still trying to shoot two different rails):

I've decided to try an post something different each week to, so here's on for the road:
